Somesh Kumar Ias Biography, Mr. Somesh Kumar was born on December 22, 1963, and he got his master’s degree in psychology from the University of Delhi. He worked in high-profile departments like the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Tribal Welfare, Revenue-Commercial Taxes and Excise Collegiate Education, and AP Urban Services for Poor, and he left his mark on the Government.
As the Principal Secretary for Revenue, Commercial Taxes, and Excise, he made sure that the move to GST went smoothly. He also used IT, apps, and data analytics to close loopholes and stop tax evasion. He also took several steps to stop excise revenue from leaking out and became known as a tough taskmaster. At the moment, he is also in charge of land issues, Registration, and the CCLA.
During his time as GHMC Commissioner, property taxes went up, the popular “5 for a meal” program was started, and the Strategic Road Development Plan was put into place. He started the Chief Minister’s ST Entrepreneurship Innovation Initiative when he was in charge of the Tribal Welfare department. At the beginning of his career, he was a Sub-Collector in Bodhan and Nizamabad. Later, he became the Collector of the Anantapur district.
