Santhi Kumari Ias Biography, The new Chief Secretary of Telangana is a senior IAS officer named A. Shanti Kumari. The State Government told her to become the Chief Secretary after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao agreed that she should be the top bureaucrat in the State. The order came a day after the Department of Personnel and Training fired Somesh Kumar from his job (DoPT).
Officers starting in 1989, Ms. Shanti Kumari will be the first woman to lead the new State. Ms. Shanti Kumari has a Master’s in marine biology. She got her MBA in the US and then worked for the UN for two years. During her 30 years of service, she has worked to reduce poverty, improve education and health, teach people new skills, and protect forests.

She worked in the office of the Chief Minister as the chief secretary and in the TS-iPASS as a special secretary. Before she becomes the Chief Secretary, she is the special chief secretary in the Forest department. The new Chief Secretary went to Pragati Bhavan to thank the Chief Minister for giving her the job of Chief Secretary and putting his trust in her.
Santhi Kumari will be Telangana’s first female Chief Secretary. When Santhi Kumari got the appointment orders, she went to Pragathi Bhavan and met with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who told her how happy he was for her.

Santhi Kumari IAS is an IAS officer with over three decades of extensive experience in a wide range of areas viz Poverty Alleviation, Inclusive Development, Education & Health, Skill Development, and Forestry sector. She served the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for two years overseeing financial inclusion.
Santhi Kumari worked as district collector of Adilabad, Commissioner of BC welfare commissioner in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh. Later, she worked in the Chief Minister’s Office for four years as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, besides serving as a Special officer in Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS iPASS). She was secretary of Medical and Health department too but transfered during the pandemic.
Prior to her appointment as CS of Telangana, she served as the Special Chief Secretary for Environment and Forests department.
What happened earlier
Somesh Kumar joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989 from Bihar. When he was hired, he was put in charge of the AP cadre (IAS). But after the two states split apart, the Centre took care of the division of officers as well.
Some officers from the All India Services went to the CAT and asked to stay in Telangana.
Telangana’s chief minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, chose Kumar to be the chief secretary because he had worked for the government for a long time before he reached the age of retirement. This was done to keep the government running smoothly for at least three years.
